Video 1
This video uses the Jigsaw Strategy to to help students with comprehension of a reading passage. This is a great technique for two reasons. First it gets students to focus on one particular area the teacher wishes to explore. In this case, the students are working on Author's Style, Vocabulary, and Imagery. Secondly, when all pieces are brought back together, there is a lot of area for discussion and analyfzing between the different students.

Video 2
This is a video that effectively explores the traditional use of Jigsawing. In this example students are engaged in for different books about gardening. The students are divided by subtopics where one student from each group becomes the chosen "expert" and continues a refined learning with other "experts". The student eventually goes back to share his/her expertise with the other students in the original group. The video shows an effective use of this strategy and how to involve students by making them active learners.
